Carol is a book writen by Patricia Highsmith and adapted to film in 2015.The book was originaly published in 1952 titled the price of salt and under a nickname, it was reprinted in 1989 with the real name of the autor and the title of Carol, the novel is considered a gay classic that untied controversy in those times and bring hope to gay folks for being the first book with with a relatively happy end, it means that they stay together and there isnt a suicide or tragedy as it was usual ,that is the main reason why i get interesed at fisrt in the movie, but i waited and read the book first.

The book takes place in new york of the 50's,Therese is a young that ends up working as seller in the chrismas time, when she meets carol she feels a instant conection, thats how their story begins.Carol is getting divorced and figthing for the custody of her daugther,Therese is trying to understand her feelings. A love that rise and looks to survive the social impositions of that time, full of details that represent love as a great joy, freedom and peace
.

The book we see Carol through the perspective of Therese so idealized, interesting, misterious,in the movie we feel a more realistic Carol, with all her issues. They didn't include the most romantic parts of the side of Therese that even reach to be overwhelming but really precious.
The int of Ronney Mara as Theresse and Cate Blanchet as Carol seem to be good because it can be seen perfectly the duality of these women, oneshows maturity and experience, the other youth and inocence.
The 50's is one of the most interesting times to represent with aestetic armony and this movie was impecable, not to much, the locations remebered and even improved the experience of the story as it is written on the book, the details and the clothing were accurate.

The adaptation is pretty good,it summarizes the most important points but it falls short in some aspects, i think this may be the feeling is you read the book fisrt, another thing is Abby, even if she appears in the movie its never shown that she had a short relationship with Carol .In the other hand is really interesting to watch the end,how in the last minute, the same as in the book,Therese come back to Carol and it is given that they decided to stay together, leaving us with a great satisfaction.
