It’s Christmas day, it’s snowing, if you are like me, someone who lives in the south hemisphere you’ll feel overwhelmed by the snowstorm portrayed in this book, it’s the worst one of the last 50 years and three stories develop around this weather event. The book is divided into three stories, each one written by one author of juvenile literature: John Green, Lauren Myracle and Maureen Johnson, White Christmas went out the 8th of October of 2008, even though it gained recognition just after the mid-decade thanks to John Green’s success,I personally didn’t know Maureen and Lauren but I got the best first impression.

A girl who was going to spend Christmas with her boyfriend and his family finds herself in a situation where her plans got changed, another teenage girl just broke up with her boyfriend has to get into an unusual mission to show she is a good friend and a group of friends that we're safe and sound in home decided to go out because of some cheerleaders trapped inside a waffle House of the little town. All of them have to overcome the storm, the main characters of every story discover something about themselves and spend an unusual Christmas day in which the most important thing is not the gifts, the food or the family but the adventure. Some curious stuff happens, like a Britney Spears like breakdown, a little bit of teenage drama, friendship, and romance all of that in the middle of the storm that covers everything and makes everyone’s journey more difficult.

This is a fast-to-read book, I didn’t even read it constantly but ended it in less than a week. it was the perfect company for my chill holidays, I think it’s perfect to stay home or to stay entertained for long waits, it has the same vibe a typical Christmas movie has (but definitely more diverse) it’s not extraordinary but it’s good it keeps you entertained and leaves you with a warm heart feeling.

To be honest I didn’t like much Green’s story it seems he writes it in one journey but obviously I’m being hard on him because since this work came out it’s been more than a decade and I’ve read, I think, ALL of his books, so yeah maybe that’s why but the other stories made me interested in following Maureen’s and Lauren’s work. I enjoyed the characters’ evolution and the fact that even if the story’s scenery is a small town with Christian and white majority if it was a movie I wouldn’t look like this:

If you want to turn off the TV but you’re feeling a lighter, not-too-deep content with a Xmas topic this is your book. Happy Hanukkah, Merry Xmas, happy new year and Chinese new year (Well I hope I can upload content here before that) Remember it’s always a good idea to give away books on these holidays Ciao
